ABOUT
You’ve probably seen photos of these gentle giants peeking into hotel windows and sticking their big blue tongues out for a treat. Giraffe Manor is a wildly popular destination, and for good reason. Giraffe Manor is one of four properties by 4th generation Kenyans, Tanya and Mikey Carr-Hartley. The manor, located just outside of Nairobi, upholds a high standard of environmental and sustainable practices for conservation efforts in East Africa.
TO DO
Breakfast with Giraffes
This is a can’t-miss opportunity during your stay at Giraffe Manor. Reservations are required and are only available to overnight guests of the manor. Enjoy your morning fuel with giraffes poking in to say hello, and to grab a dried grass pellet treat.
Giraffe Center
The African Fund for Endangered Wildlife is a quick stroll across the front lawn. This center plays an important part in the conservation of the endangered Rothschild giraffe, which is the species at Giraffe Manor. The center plays a big part in educating schoolchildren and the public about Kenya’s wildlife and environment. You can get up close and personal, and feed the giraffes here.
Nairobi National Park
When in Africa, go on a safari! Take a visit to Nairobi National Park. While it is technically within city limits, feels like you are worlds away. Come here to catch glimpse of a diverse set of wildlife, such as lions, zebra, buffalo, loooots of species of birds, antelope, and more!
Horseriding
You might not think of it as something you would go to Africa to do- but horse riding through the Dagoretti forest is a must do activity for some awe-inspiring views. Book your ride with Malo Stables, here.
Shopping from Local Artisans
Go into town to visit souvenir markets where you can find locally crafted pieces. You’ll find beautiful pieces from carvings, jewelry, leather goods, and more that are each carefully crafted and one of a kind.
ACCOMODATIONS
Your stay at Giraffe Manor is going to be an intimate one- it is not a large resort, rather a cozy stay with six rooms in the main house and six more rooms in the garden manor. The manor has been restored, but maintains it’s 1930’s charm.
